Imagination Station is CLOSING

The last day the Station will be open to the public is Saturday February 28, 2009

Since opening, it has been a constant struggle to keep bills paid and keep the building and
exhibits in good operating order. The board continues to believe that this community can
support a hands-on educational science center through the right partnerships. Interested parties
and organizations will be encouraged to present proposals for the building, displays and
supplies. Our sincere hope is, that we can find a way to preserve the programming opportunities
for children in the Lafayette area that add to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
initiative (STEM) in the State of Indiana.
Imagination Station began fifteen years ago as a grassroots organization that has sustained over
the years through memberships, volunteers, and philanthropic organizations supporting science,
space and technology for the young minds in our community. We would like to send our thanks
to those who have helped us carry on our commitment to the youth of Tippecanoe County and
the surrounding regions over the past years.
Kathy Weedon, President of the board states, “This is undoubtedly a ‘can do’ community that
needs and wants a hands-on science, space and technology center. The Imagination Station
board wants that center to continue someplace in our community! We are encouraged by the
offers of support and partnerships that the mission of Imagination Station will reemerge in the
future.”
Hands-On Trucks will not take place this June. The board will remain active while formulating a
plan of action for the building, displays and hopefully a way to continue hands-on science
programming in the future.
